The making of my final piece

For making my sculpture i made a huge mess, this is my work in progress , i started out measuring all the paper and to say ever flower has 12 pieces of paper to it i definatly have used alot of paper,  after measuring it was onto the cutting and folding , after that it was keeping it all together and tight, they only major problem i found with the paper was that the paper became weak after i had been holding it, so the more i handled it the more it ripped , lose, lose , but i managed and im really happy with the end results.

Inspiration

when i was working with the paper i found that the end sculptures related to objects from nature,
with this idea and Richard showing his research behind his sculptures i thought trees where a good source of inspiration, they branch off and create interesting shapes, keeping this idea you can see in my paper sculptures that they do display the characteristics, other similar things that inspired my work are flowers and leaves as they too have interesting shapes.

I like the use of the black and white as it really shows how the use of shadow and contrast could work in the paper.

Richard sweeny workshop

In the workshop with Richard we had to experience with paper engineering, cutting, folding and scoring, just initially playing with the paper and seeing what sculptures we could make.

After experimenting with the paper i started to think about the forms i could make the paper into and richard was talking about how natural forms inspired him, trees where inspiration for these sculptures and i tried to create different variations.
